Who we are

Layers Method is a Spanish learning course and community at layersmethod.com. The product is operated by Layers Method LLC (Rob Venter).

This policy explains what we collect when you visit the site, create an account, join a trial or paid plan, use the community, or click a Layers Method ad. It is written for the live product, not as generic legal filler.

What we collect

Depending on how you use Layers Method, we may collect:

  • Account data: email address, name, hashed password, and optional profile photo. We use email as the login identifier (including magic-link sign-in).
  • Learning and usage data: progress on decks and layers, daily practice, conversation tests, goals, and similar product activity needed to run the course.
  • Community and support: posts, comments, chat messages, and messages you send us for help.
  • Payment data: if you pay on layersmethod.com, Stripe processes the card. We store Stripe customer and subscription IDs, plan, and status — not your full card number. Some learners still pay through Skool; we may sync membership status and Skool signup answers so access stays correct.
  • Marketing and ads data: first-touch offer and traffic source (for example trial vs freemium, or Meta / YouTube / organic), UTM values, and Meta click identifiers. We use a Meta Pixel and server Conversions API so we can measure ads for the “Layers Method Ads” app.
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser, and approximate location as provided by our host and analytics tools.
  • Optional extras: push-notification subscription if you enable it, bug reports, and event-interest forms (name, email, phone) if you submit one.

Cookies and similar technology

We use cookies and local storage to keep the product working and to measure it:

  • Sign-in / session cookies so you stay logged in.
  • First-touch cookies such as lm_offer_type, lm_traffic_source, and lm_utm_content, plus Meta cookies such as _fbp and _fbc, so we remember how you found us and can attribute a later signup or purchase.
  • Analytics via PostHog (cookie + local storage) for page views and product usage.

You can block cookies in your browser. The site may still work for browsing, but sign-in, billing, and ad measurement can break.

How we use this information

We use the information to:

  • Create and operate your account, course access, and community.
  • Process payments, trials, upgrades, pauses, and cancellations.
  • Send transactional email (login links, receipts, community or support notices).
  • Send occasional product email if you are on our list (you can unsubscribe).
  • Understand how the product is used and fix problems.
  • Measure and improve ads, including sending matching events to Meta (hashed identifiers where required, plus click IDs).
  • Protect the service against abuse and keep billing records we are required to keep.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share data with service providers who help us run Layers Method. They should use it only to provide their service to us:

  • Stripe — payments and billing.
  • Skool — community / membership for learners who joined that way.
  • Meta — Pixel and Conversions API for ads measurement and optimization.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Vercel — website hosting and file storage.
  • Neon — the database that stores accounts and product data.
  • MailerSend and MailerLite — transactional and broadcast email.
  • Other processors we use to run features (for example speech audio or email delivery).

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if we transfer the business (you would still be entitled to this policy or a successor notice).

How long we keep it

We keep account and learning data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize what we no longer need. We may retain limited billing, tax, and security records for as long as we are legally required to, and analytics events may remain in our tools for a period after deletion.

Data deletion

To delete your Layers Method account and personal data, email hello@layersmethod.com from the address on your account and ask Rob / support to delete it. We will delete or anonymize what we no longer need. Limited billing or tax records may be kept where the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and personal data (subject to legal retention).
  • Export a copy of your account information where that is practical.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including marketing email.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, you can ask us what we collected, request deletion, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context ads. We do not sell personal information for money. Meta ads measurement may count as “sharing” under some state laws — email us if you want that limited.

You can also use Meta’s ad settings and your browser controls to limit advertising cookies.

Children

Layers Method is aimed at adults learning Spanish. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a material way, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continued use of layersmethod.com after a change means you accept the updated policy.
